As network controller driver is missing I can't connect to the internet to download drivers directly from internet, though i do have access to the internet via another pc.

Hi
I had the same problem due to a virus. I rebuilt my uncles medion 2030 laptop with XP home. I looked around and I was told the same as you, get the drivers from the Medion website. Done that but no network controller, so the wireless didn't work.
Every website I went to told me that the spec for the wireless, was a Prism 3886 802.11g wireless made by Intersel Americas, after downloading it, It would not let me install the drivers. Obviously because it wasn't a Prism.
After a week of pulling my hair out I finally cracjked it.

Hope this is of some help.

Go to the following website http://halfdone.com/ ..
and download the unknown devices file.(UKD). Unzip it and then run it, this will tell you the name of the device that you are looking for, if it doesn't look under Computer missing names. That is where I found out that I had an Intel pro/wireless 2200BG installed. It willalso give you the names of anything else you don't have a driver for. The rest was easy, went to Intel and downloaded the correct driver and installed it. Works a treat, I can now give it back to my uncle.

Hey Gazza, I read the thread on the network controller and I went to halfdone.com but it appears they don't have NT support available only XP and older. Where can I get a similar program that allows device detection on Windows Vista? If you have an answer for this then please get back to me at dj.ortana@gmail.com thanks

Easy just contact your computer provider example: Dell, Mac and on their website they have replacement drives such as the Ethernet Controller Driver etc.. they download it for free. If you have no internet conection you may call the company and they can download it for you. you just have to call from antoher computer and save the driver to a Cd and transfer it to your home computer. Just have your Service tag number with you or they will not be able to figure out which driver was installed initialy. also have the express service tag available both are located on the bottom of each computer on a sticker.

hope this info was helpful.

For Driver issues, use the following.

Us another computer for Internet Access and download a tool called Driver Robot. http://driverrobot.com/download/

Save this setup on a jump drive/ flash drive and install it on the computer/laptop that you are having trouble with drivers.
After the setup scan your computer and the program will scan for all components that need drivers. After the scan is done save the html link to your flash drive.
Unplug the flash drive from the computer/laptop with no network and plug back in to a computer with Internet Access. Cut and paste the link from the flash drive to your Internet browser and "get drivers"...voila... all drivers needed for your computer/laptop that lacks drivers are right there in front of you.

I hope this helps out alot. It sure helps me fix computers.
