How to format PEN DRIVE

Hello,
I have a 2 GB Transcend Pen Drive, I cannot format it successfully because at the end of format it shows window cannt format the drive completely. I tried it in both Fat & Fat32 system but the result showing the same. Please do advice.

This is a link to the HP formatting tool - it might format your drive. Most likely your drive is DEAD.

Anytime i insert the transcend 8gb pendrive into the laptop's port, the computer recognise it but just that i can't copy any thing into it. The only msg i get is your pendrive is not formatted, do u want to format it?, but when i try formating it, doesn't go through. pls help me

Your pen drive not formated in window xp plz use in linux operating system and format the pendrive easlly
no any error show so plz use linux (openlx.com) openlx is a operating system in linux


you are driect mail me

I am having 4gb transcend pendrive...
when i am format that pen drive, it will not format,
because it having protected data.. so please give me suggestions for how to format...

Folder.htt virus had attack my transand MP 3 player.
how to remove this virus.
I formate the driver "UNABLE TO LOCK THE DRIVE" error message show, not complete the formate.

plz use in linux operating system free antvirus use openlx linux go for site and download (www.openlx.com)

how to format pandrive


attach in pen drive and open the konsole type the command

fdisk -l

fdisk /dev/sda

d d for delete the partisation


w save the file



and change the format

mkfs.vfat -I /dev/sda

yuor pandrive work successfully

The comand prompt way of formating pendrives is really working great.
from the start menu run the cmd. then type h: (if ur pendrive is in 'h' drive)
then type [format h:].
thats it, and follow the instructions. it works.. thnk u.

As u told in cmd command ,in new window ,when u type format h ur pen drive which is in h drive ,formatted,but i type format j as my pen drive name is j, its not formatted ,


if i give space between format and j ,shows invalid drive specification

pl solve my problem ,my pen drive is not formating normaly ,shows window can not format

This command will work for your problem

format F: /FS:NTFS /x

F: is ur flash /pen drive

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT.

THE HP USB FORMAT TOOLS IS WORKING FINE. ANYONE WHO IS HAVING SUCH PROBLEMS IN FORMATTING OR ACCESSING YOUR PEN DRIVE, MAY USE THIS TOOL TO RECTIFY.

IT'S REALLY WORKING.

I was also occuring from same problem. Do the following steps:-
1. Right click on my computer icon and open manage.
2. Then open disk management.
3. There u see ur pen drive.
4. Right click on ur pen drive and click on format.
5. After successful formating restart ur computer.
6. Ur pen drive wil work again.

Rright cllick on my computer manage
then disk management right click on pen drive and format
