| 3 susan, on Jan 25, 2009 4:08:07 pm GMTHi, I have an hp pavilion dv6000 and recently i have had similar problems. Most times when i turn it on the botton half of the screen is blank or fuzzy..thus making it unreadable. I actually pick up the computer by pulling on each side of the screen...just jiggling it and it always corrects the problem for me. It makes me think the problem is with the connection between the laptop and the screen.
Works for me...interested if it would work for anyone else...seems like this is a common problem. Reply to susan | 5 Lucky, on Feb 2, 2009 5:42:47 pm GMTHi All,
I seem to have a similar problem with my dv9000 customized PC as well...It runs Vista Ultimate edition.
Does anyone hae an idea of how I can resolve this problem?
Cheers... Reply to Lucky | 7 tradwinds, on Feb 3, 2009 11:53:21 pm GMTI've been having the same problems with the black sreen issue on my pavilion dv9000. I read that if you unpluge and remove the battery then hold down the power button for 30-60 seconds. then repluge the power cord in fire it up and put the batter back in and walla fix and go to go. The only thing that I can say is not to buy HP notebook.
See below if your notebook series and product number are on the list and repair it for free.

Screen was black and computer would not come back on. He was fearing the worst. I found this forum through a Google search in a mere 5 seconds and this particular answer in under 60 seconds. Not more than 2 minutes after that his computer was on and he was bowing down in adoration. lol. I love Google and the Internet! Thank you tradwinds for your post. It was a miracle cure! | 13 Mark, on Mar 3, 2009 6:20:24 am GMTMy black screen problem disappeared when I began to open the screen to a wider angle before pushing the power button. If the angle of the screen to the keyboard is less than 90 degrees it appears to trigger the problem. By opening to wider than 90 degrees, the problem goes away. Once the screen is activated it doesn't matter what angle the screen is put at. The wide angle is only necessary at boot up. This leads me to believe that it is a hardware issue. This may be an easier and less violent solution to the problem than pick the thing up by the screen. Hope this helps someone. Reply to Mark | 28 rssays, on Apr 2, 2009 2:16:18 am BSTThank you Mark! | 52 mouse, on Jul 21, 2009 12:20:04 am BSTAwesome! Worked perfectly, thanks Mark.
** I recommend anyone having the black screen problem attempt this solution first. It only takes a second, and could mean the difference between hours of unnecessary work. I used it on an HP Pavilion dv9000, worked like a champ. The symptoms were:
- Lights && fan comes on.
- After a few seconds, backlight is visible engaging along the bottom of the monitor, however screen remains black.
- When plugged into an external monitor via VGA, output normal BIOs/CMOS boot sequence, and was responsive.
In my case, there was a failed installed of Vista going on that errored out before booting into the OS, so there were no auditory cues. It was almost like mobo failure, but not quite. Good luck everyone! Reply to mouse |

| 62 DAVID, on Aug 22, 2009 2:34:11 pm BSTMark, my HP laptop problem is the same as yours: open beyond 90-degree and it goes black. I agree, must be a hardware problem.
Have you looked into this further?...found a solution/fix? My problem has slowly gotten worse to the point where its a constant issue now.
Thanks!
