Hello,
I have a Power Mac G4. It worked perfectly fine, until one day I took it to my mother's house. I went to set it up and now it will not power on. When you press the power button, it lights up until you remove your finger. The computer will not power up.
I have purchased a new internal battery, and installed it correctly but that did not correct the problem.
I saw an online posting for the exact problem for a Power Mac G4 cube, and it states to check the DC to DC converter card connection as it may have come loose during transport. Does anyone know if there is an equivalent to the DC to DC converter card on my computer? (mine is NOT the cube) Or perhaps there is a DC to DC converter card that I am not aware of?
Any info would be a great help, I have tried everything and I am STUCK.
Thanks!
Configuration: Mac OS X Safari 525.27.1

It may look funny, but the same thing happened with me when I brought my old QuickSilver to my father's home. The problem was traced to a faulty power extender socket, which was working before. When plugged into another socket, QuickSilver worked fine. Apparenty, same thing can happen when the powercord is faulty as well. I later checked it - with unplugged powercord QuickSilver behaves exactly as you described: power button lights up while it is pressed, but QuickSilver does not start. |
