Log file for share folder session

Hello,

I have a working group with 5 computers,
1 pc works as data server and backup server,it has a share folder call backup,every midnight, all 5 computer backup their C: drive to backup folder by using norton ghost,the problem is sometimes some other machine didn't complete their backup job,

here is the error message

error message: Error E7D1001F: Unable to write to file. Error 00000040: The specified network name is no longer available.

I check the symantec website, and find out that is because of network traffic,the computer cann't connect to the backup folder because it reach the limit

My question is the share folder allow 10 connections in windows XP, and we only have 5 pc that is 5 connections, how come the share folder didn't allow that pc to connect.

Is there any log file for share folder session so I can find out how many connection were there at that moment

Hello

I don't know if there is a default log for shared folders but you can probably turn it on through the mmc console (audting) somewhere.

When you are copying files each computer can create more than one connection so that is why you are running out of connections. 5 computers could generate way more than the 10 connects XP allows.

You could even try to offset the backup times by 30 mins or so. Maybe start the first 2 at one time then wait 30 mins and start the next 2 then wait a few minutes and start the next one (if that's possible with your set up). Just a thought.
