Msn plus wont work

Hello,
Ryte my dad just had his computer rebooted nd i have the windows live msn but when eva i try to download the new plus on it just wont work it downloads and everything onto my computer but then it wont work please help me !!!!!

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 8.0

You need the new msn plus.....go to http://www.msgplus.net/download/ and read it and it says at the end of the paragraph...........

Users of Windows Live Messenger 2009: download the latest compatible version of Messenger Plus! Live here (in beta).

and it will work but i cant get the scripts to work for some reason........
