Acer laptop won't start/ black screen

Hello,
my Acer laptop was working fine all the time. I was writing an e-mail yesterday and during this the screen got black, it turned off and want turn back on.....
Any ideas.... HELP PLEASE !!!

Yeah I had that problem too. Then my harddrive started smoking...So I wasn't really able to troubleshoot that one. I think it was because of Windows Vista Basic though.

Found a similar question and solution while researching the issue just now, here's the link. Have not tried it yet though.

Note, this may not be the same issue as yours, my laptop will turn on, it just never posts or boots up and remains at a black screen.
