Same problem here I have learned the quickest answer is the function F$ combo to put it to sleep then hit power button to wake up but it seems as though it is happening more and more frequent. It gives the illusion that it is wiring because it goes white when you jimmy the screen sometime but other times it just does it out of spite, im waiting for it to happen soon. It is going to drive me crazy... Hooking laptop up to tv I have no problems except it is inevitably white when I unhook from tv. Someone smarter than me has to have a better remedy then putting my pc to sleep every 30 min.

Instead of putting it on sleep............u can set turnoff monitor after 1 min. from windows power setting......so when ever it becomes white..leave every thing for 1 min. so that screen goes off, then move your mouse to get back screen.

Same here. except I have a Gateway M-6841. Some times (not all the time) when I turn on the laptop, the screen goes immediately white. I can jiggle the screen and it will clear itself. Even though it is white, it will still boot up. external monitor works fine.

Can it be a loose connection?
bad lcd?
bad inverter?

I've got an Acer 4315 that is having the same white screen problem - call Acer to see if it is out of warranty first. Unfortunately, mine is. Here is a link to another site that has a possible solution. I'm going to take mine to Staples and see if they can check the screen wires.

I have the same problem with my extensa 5630..to get the screen back without rebooting simply close the lid for 10-15 seconds, reopen and press a key, this will take you to the login page..may take a few tries but beats restarting and loosing your work

I have an ACER extensa 5630 laptop with the same white screen problem. I found the wiring connecting the LCD and mother board was the problem. Several ground wires from the LCD were wrapped, but not soldered, around another wire from the microphone which then goes to the connector for the motherboard. You will need to remove all the tape wrapped around the wires starting from the motherboard connector to about 3 inches back.

Hi
i have a manual solution on how to prevent display turns to white.
when your screen display turns to white , try to put wet cloth under the laptop and reboot it
