Why wont my xbox go on xbox live

Hello, i got an xbox a few days ago its an arcade version i bought a enthernet cable and connected it i clicked on join xbox live and it said an update needs to be made so i clicked update it tried to update but it said it couldnt make the update so i still havent even joined xbox live i checked the connection test and everything is working but when it checks the xbox live connection it says it has to be updated so i dont no what to do and i still cant play live anybody that knows whats wrong please tell me thanks

Donwload the new xbox dashoboard on xbox.com and save the file to a memory stick
the plug memory stick to xbox then let it download and plug in the ethernet cable again and see what it says

I have my hard drive and everthing jus like the guy up there said im online but just not with my xbox it keeps telling me to sighn in and when i try it makes me do all the stuff all over agian then like an hour latter it stoped then it comes back and over and over i also have my 360 dirrcley connected to my pc...........

This Is Happening To My Xbox. Ive Had It For Like 3 Months And It Was Working Perfectly For About 1 Month The Started Doing This Thing Where It Say Connection Interrupted Then I Got My Brother To Fix That But Its Started Doing It Again A Few Weeks After Then My Adapters Suddenly Gone Red And Wont Let Me Connect To Xbox Live At All And Its Bollocks Playing It Against Your Friends And Brothers.

So Has Anyone Got A Qucik Suggestion What I Can Do To Fix This Because Its Starting To Annoy Me I Could End Up Smashing It Up Its That Annoying

Hi my xbox live wont work because it cant download the update every thing else confirms and its not that i dont have enough memory i have plenty (its a pro console) i was wondering could you help me please because i am going to toss this thing out my window and drive over it until i run out of petrol.

Hey im having the same problem...and im glad to say it has nothing to do with me not having a hard drive....i signed on like a couple of days after i got it...after that....i havent gotten online since christmas. it just keeps saying theres a problem with my connection...but the signal on the network is all green

im about to just smashh this shit

I traded in my original xbox 360 for an arcade version...i have connected my 120gb hd and it will not let me connect to online...do you know what the problem is??

Thats not true because i brought my harddrive to my uncles and it updated his console to the new one, but then i put in his harddrive and it wont update another update it needs.

Look at the bottom right of the pc screen, scoll your mouse over you icons there on your anti virys software it should be in there :)

Usually, you can have firewall on your pc (which is pretty simple), or on your router. In that case, you can log into you router and then in settings turn off firewall... To login into router, go to command prompt and run 'ipconfig'... You will see default gateway address, paste it into IE and whalaaaa... you are in you router settings... Hope this helps....

It could be any ip issue to get on to x-box live. I have my computer set up with a static ip. on my computeri have an ip address of 192.168.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 and no gateway. On the x-box i have a ip address of 192.168.0.221 and the same subnet up above. and a defualt gateway of 192.168.0.1. MAKE SURE YOU PUT IN YOUR DNS!!!! This is what gives you internet!!!!! You can get your dns from going to start----run---type in cmd---and then enter... a black box will appear. type this in...... ipconfig /all look where it gives you your dns. If it doesnt list one you may need to contact your isp provider. This should get you into x-box live. If it doesnt.... Your virus scanner could be blocking it.... you firewall may need to be disabled... (make sure u enable it after your done playing!!!!!!) You may also need to share your connection. I have a verizon usb card. my computer connects to my x-box through an ethernet cord.I have go to network connections and right click my verizon connection and go into properties... click share connection..... and then there is an advance setting in that tab where u have to open the port for x-box.. the port so literally say X-BOX. no shit. I got a few thing to say.
1.Make sure you even have time of xbox live most people try and try but have no time on it.
2.You need to have a router and a wireless internet modem.
3.By what other people are saying i think ya firewall has got to be off.
4.You should try to get a gold membership its the best.

First thing if you have a networkcable you need a network brige on your computer wich has a wirless connection or you can directly plug the cable into the router wich will automatically work.

Ok, so after the xbox live maintenance my xbox still won't go on live. I'm on an old Xbox and my account is brand new. When i try to connect to xbox live, it makes me troubleshoot. When I troubleshoot, it says there is nothing wrong with my connection, DNS servers, IP address, or Xbox live. I am plugged straight into a router and I already tried turning off my firewall which did nothing. So will someone please tell me why the hell my Xbox won't work?

Who is ur internet service provider........connect ur modem directly to modem....click on start--run--cmd--ipconfig-----if the ip addr given by ur isp starts with 192.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x or 10.x.x.x then its a private ip addr and u wont be able to go online...get ur modem bridged
