Open dialog box

Hello,
I cannot open some attachments because a box says " I have an open dialogue box. Please close it" What is a dialogue box? How do I find the open one and close it?

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

When I try to open an e-mail attachment, I get the message that dialog box is open.
I cannot close the dialog box.
