Uninstalling Office won't help. Right-click on the Outlook icon (not shortcut), Properties, email accounts, view/change, and remove the gmail account from the list. If you don't have an Outlook icon, go to Control Panel, Mail, email accounts. For future reference, these questions should be posted in the Office Software Forum. |
It doesn't work! I've tried everything Mirrocsoft and My Toshiba. I never had this probem before. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted, addeed fixes, etc.... This has been hours I have been working on. Ridiculous.
I cannot open Outlook 2003. I can open all the other office applications 2003, not a problem. Outlook specidifcially says: "Cannot start Micro. Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administratror. I am the admin. this is a Windows XP media Center computer and my outllook worked fine before I rebooted my compueter. Gosh, next computer is a NON-Mircosof.t Any suggestions here.

Hi Seahawk: Actually, got a call from Mircorsoft, after their lame attempts to resolved the problem didn't work. They "got onto" my computer via share thing and fixed the problem. It seems they did some of what you said, but there were some other issues. This all was caused by downloading THEIR udpate SP3 for office.
My next computer is going to NOT be a Windows/Micro. I had an idepth conversation with another rep. and told them why they are loosing customers (besides the big mega company customers). Their products put out are not tested well and are more than problematic. They don't listen to what the customer wants ie: the "new" office 2007 look - most people hate and want the classic back. And, even their updates are troublesome. I don't know what is going on with Micro., but they are failing miserably at getting people to believe in their products. Another thing I told them, was that most of us out here are happy with the XP OS and don't want Vista, which they keep on pushing on us. such customer service, ehhhh..... One has to use non-Mircrosoft products to fix Micro. problems - unbelievealbe. Anyway, thanks for your answers and reply.

Actually, there was a bit more to fixing OUtlook, it became corrupt somehow (after I downloaeded Office SP3). Mircrosoft called me and we fixed it. Honesetly, though, after 22 years with Mircrosoft, I am pretty much down with them. They are not listening to their customers - putting out Vista and Office 2007, which most do not like and these products have all kinds of problems, glitches and flaws. The products - Vista and Officd 2007 , are not too user friendly. Thank God I don't have either of these products. Microsoft in general is just not listening to what their customers want and it seems, they are forcing us to upgrade (probably pretty soon) to Office 2007 and Vista and, for me and many others, this is where the line is drawn - to APple or some other OS I go. Too bad, because XP and Office 2003 are great, but............ Ruffus |
