i have same problem that icant change from vista home to XP
someone told me that vista home lock the hard so xp cant saw it
so u have format it first and after that u can setup xp again

I am unable to install XP on my hp Pavilion dv2000. When trying to boot from XP Professional SP2 CD it always says that there is no hard drive is intalled. However my old windows home edition is working on the same laptop.

Can anyone help me to sort out the problem?

To follow this procedure, you need USB Floppy drive. And we have to create two floppies.

Here are steps to create two floppies and to install XP:

Download the Intel SATA AHCI Controller Driver, SoftPaq SP32478.exe from the below URL:

Extract all the files from the SoftPaq. A USB floppy is necessary for this step. Run sp32478; this will create a floppy disk. The files will be located on this floppy.

: These files should be located on the floppy disk.

a. iaahci.cat

b. iaahci.inf

c. iastor.cat

d. iastor.inf

e. iastor.sys

f. license.txt

g. readme.txt

h. txtsetup.oem

Now we have to create the second Floppy

Download the below zip file from the below URL and unzip the file. Copy the unzipped files to another floppy:

As soon as you open the web site a small window will pop up with OPEN, SAVE and CANCEL options. Please select the SAVE option and save the file on the desktop.

Unzip the files and save the files on the second USB floppy drive. Please insert the XP Operating System disc and allow the Notebook to boot with the Operating System disc.

After that when it prompts to press F6, please press F6. It prompts to insert the floppy, here you have to insert the first floppy, and follow the onscreen instructions.

It will give you the list like:

1- intel ICH9 SATA AHCIController
2- Intel 82801HEM SATA RAID Controller
3- Intel 82801HEM SATA AHCI Controller
4- Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller

Select one by one of the listed items it prompts to insert intel storage drive insert second floppy drive.

Insert second Floppy when it propmts to insert the intel matrix storage driver.


Now, the installtion will detect the notebook harddrive and you can complete the XP OS installtion.

I used n-lite and integrated SATA drivers to XP Pro SP3,then boot from cd and press F7 (not F6),works fine.But i have problems with hardware.My wireless network,bluetooth,fingerprint reader,card reader,audio,allmost nothing do not work.Only USB and dvd works fine.Where i can found correct drivers and soft for my machine(HP Paviljon dv2000)?Sorry for my bad english,but i think estonian and russian is not good here.
