Problem with Samsung I900

Hi,

I have a question.

I’m using a Samsung I900, when I copy all of my contacts onto my Sim card and place it into the Samsung I900, when I receive calls or a text I get only the number but not the name of the person.
So I try to copy the contacts from my sim to the phone, in the end I have two entries of the same contact. How to correct this?

How can I choose the name of the person alone to appear when I am receiving a call and not the number?

Configuration: Windows XP
Opera 9.62

Hello,

Some devices have that problem. This is happening because the number of digits in the phone number is different to the default number settings. Many countries use 8 digits and by default, some devices are setup with the default value 8 in the following registry key:

HKCU\Control Panel\Phone\CallIdMatch.

Change the value to 7 and restart. Now, that value might be different in your country. Change it accordingly.

Open Contacts on your device and click
>Menu
>Options.

Clear the Area code box and click OK.

I have just been given an i900 for my 60th birthday and I love it but how do I upload all my photos to my computer? I plugged in the usb cable and see the i900 lights up but the computer doesn't seem to "see" it! Any ideas?

You need to download Microsoft Active Sync from Samsungs web site
It will work fine then, a small problem is you cant see the photos you want to transfer, only the file names.
But Im working on that.there should be a way round it, I'll post it if I find it

Dear Chris

Thaks for the advice. Downloaded ActiveSync with the help of a friend and lo and behold the Omnia works like a dream! I now have the photos on my laptop and can see them better. I must say its not easy uploading them when they all look like run over cats! But I will get better at it and look forward to your solution to the problem of not being able to view them first.

Hey, glad you got it sorted, I did think afterward Active sync is probably on the Microsoft site too, but Samsungs link should take you to the right version you needed, obviously it did.
Still looking for a freeware fix to convert the photo files so you can see them on your phone when exploring it with your computer, if its out there I'll find it!
I must have a boring life! haha

Hello OMnia users...

When u plug in the mobile to the usb device you have to use the disc that came with it for active synching -- and also when you transfer the pictures, u have to transfer it to a folder on your computer first before you can open one...

to the other problem about sim card numbers, if you already copied all numbers on the phone and has it on the sim card too, take out the simcard, use other phone and delete all numbers.. when you put back the sim on your samsung mobile, it only has the number you saved on the phone ....
