Hello,

Currently, we are running 2 domains - one for staff, and another for students. However, our Cisco Catalyst 2960 router has too many ports configured for the 'student' domain, and we have run out of staff ports.

My questions is, how can I reconfigure these ports so we can use the excess student ports as staff ports?

I have complete access to the router's OS, but I am not sure which options there-after I should be looking at.

Any help would be appreciated.
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hai

If you just need to change the vlan port assignments , logg into the 2960 , get into interface config mode for whatever interface you want to change then use the following command "switchport access vlan XX" where XX is the vlan number you want the port into , as previous poster said this is a layer 2 switch and not a router . This device cannot route any packets , the layer 3 function would have to done by an attached router or a layer2/3 switch .
