Monitor turns black, video card?

Posté par spiderind, le Saturday April 19, 2008 11:09:50 AM
Hello,

Whenever playing a computer game for a little while, all of a sudden my computer screen turns black and the light goes from green to orange. I can still hear what's going on (sometimes) but just can't see anything. It seems to me like it's my videocard overloading or something, which it is pretty old (Radeon 9600) but I feel like it should be able to run this game. I've tried downloading the latest drivers, is there anything else I could try ?

Thanks in Advance,
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello

The card could be overheating. Check to see if there is a cooling fan on the card. If so, make sure it is running well.

I have a home built desktop running Windows XP. It will not start up. When I turn it on all the drive LED's come on for a second. The HD LED comes on for a few seconds and the monitor LED flashes. Nothing comes on the screen at all. I noticed before this all happened and it was working that the screen did have dark lines thru it. Every other line of text had the lines. Then everything would freezes and when I hit the reset button, the problem above started. Any help would be greatley appreciated. Thanks

I have the same problem but only when i play a certain game with Steam, Dark Messiah: Might and Magic Multi-Player
I aswell have the latest drivers... This problem is REALLY annoying with the fact that my friends say its a great game (too bad im only able to play for like 10-15 mins before the screen turns black). I use NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT with the CPU: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2Ghz ... NOTE: I want real answers not criticism about my CPU and graphics card (unless its a real answer ;D)

Thank You
