How do i download live messenger to an acer

Hello,
I got an acer aspire one for x mas, and i cant download anything because when it says its downloaded i go into my downloads file and i press open but nothing happens! and also the messenger that is already on the laptop says that the protocol is not supported by the server so i have to use ebuddy and i hate it, cause i want to use my webcam but i cant. only on msn messenger. someone please help me :( ?! ..

Configuration: Linux Fedora
Firefox 2.0.0.14

What you do is you go to settings then click on live updates wait for them to complete and then your messanger is gonna work becoz i found it out today :)

hope this helped

p.s it taakes an hour or 2 lol
