Hi,

For the past 3 months my pc has been freezing or crashing almost everyday and I hear a sound also.
I don’t know what is going wrong with this pc! I checked for viruses but none were detected on my pc. Should I buy a new pc or change my os? I noted that there were several updates that were not downloaded.
Also it said on update history that SP1 failed to download and install, but when I try to download it again it says that it is already installed.

Please help!

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

What kind of a sound do you hear?
how old is your pc? Any troubles with it back in time?

I seriously doubt that the problem is with updates.

Hello,

Check your fans to make sure they aren't hitting with something. Check the temps on your computer, as it could be overheating.

You can manually download SP1. You can check if it's installed by opening up System Properties (tap “Winkey” + “Pause”), and see if it says “Windows Vista Service Pack 1” at the top.
I would suggest you to download SP1 as a file and then run a system restore on your PC:
>Start
>All Programs
>Accessories
>System Tools
>System Restore
To restore it to a time before you had all these problems. You will lose your programs and system changes you installed since, but not things like documents, music, etc. When it finishes, install SP1 from the executable and your PC should be back to its initial state.
