DVI connector not working

Hey there it sll started when i connected my Pc (Dell inspirion) to my new SyncMaster 932BF, when using VGA cable it works , but if I use the DVI cable for some games the screen goes black ,I got a Geforce FX5600XT with 256 mb and 2gb ram .i can't figure out whats wrong ..is t it the LCD , the GPU the cables....plz help
