| 4 Ally, on Jul 8, 2008 9:52:46 pm BSTMy mother did the same thing that his wife did above. I downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware, and that removed the desktop background, which was like a biohazard sign on a red background that said my computer was infected. Still popups keep on coming up saying that I have all these viruses on my computer. Then my clock went into military time, and right next to it it says VIRUS ALERT! (For example: 17:50: VIRUS ALERT!) I still cant put the background on the computer, and when I went to HiJackThis, the popup window for the download dident popup. So am I screwed? Reply to Ally | 6 Brad, on Aug 22, 2008 1:45:45 am BSTHi there !
The exact same thing happened/is happening to me, even down to removing part of it with superantispyware, but the clock still being on military time with "virus alert" next to it. Also, like your mom, I can't get to my display and get the message "disabled by your system administrator"
Have you folks been able to resolve it and, if so, would you please share it with me or, if not, let me know and, if I am able to resolve it, I will let you know. Reply to Brad | 7 Narendra, on Aug 23, 2008 1:50:50 am BSTHi Brad,
I had exactly the same problem, i've managed to get everything set right except one - getting the desktop background to be set all right.
In addition to your steps, I also used Malwarebyte's Anti-MAlware (mlam) this did the trick for me.
Let me know if you need help getting access to taskbar or regedit Reply to Narendra | 8 Fati, on Sep 6, 2008 5:58:18 pm BSTI have all the same smyptoms but no access to run, no admin access, no programs no control panel. It's all gone?? WHat should I do? Reply to Fati |

Sometimes if you float your mouse over the top left-hand corner of the screen you will get a drop down menu and can kill your background that way.
Hope this helps. btw download spyware doctor Reply to nin |

| Trish, on Oct 7, 2008 10:49:28 pm BSTThat horrible virus that covers your background is a popup and I finally "x'd" it down. Keep looking, you'll finally see how to "x" it completely down. Reply to Trish | 19 Austine, on Oct 25, 2009 9:56:43 am GMTPlease I have a big problem with my computer, I guess it's this same virus that has affected it. Popups keep appearing on my computer asking me to enter some texts on a field. If i enter the texts correctly the popup would dissappear for a few minutes and it would come up again with a differest text/word.
This popup grays out all open windows/background and the computer would not repond to mouse clicks or key board untill I enter the the correct words.
Kindly assist on how I can delete this virus.
Thanks in anticipation.

| 18 Yazoo, on Jan 24, 2009 2:14:47 am GMTI have had a similar problem and beleive me it is a pain. What has happened to your desktop is that this virus or infection has deleted the registry tab allowing you to change your desktop. My advice is to search up an external registry tab. Type in "Change desktop registry tab" on google and you should find one. Be careful which one you download though, some can be viruses. then double click on it once it is downloaded and say allow. your computer should recognize this as a registry tab and when you right click on the desktop, you will be able to change your desktop picture under properties. And a helpful hint, do NOT delete the registry tab. You can move it wherever you like but keep it on your computer. For the virus, any virus scan should be able to get rid of it. If you know the name of the virus, try deleting it from your program files. I hope this helps =) Reply to Yazoo |
