Cannot download itunes - error on installer

Hello, I have a Vista 64-bit and trying to install Itunes. I'm okay until I get to the installer and then I get this message:
An error occurred during the installed of assembly 'Microsoft VC80.CRT, version= "8.0.50727.4053", type="win32", publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", process or Architecture-="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x80070002

Sounds to me like we have a problem with Windows Installer but I have no idea how to fix.

Any suggestions? Thank you.
