Reformat a corrupted external hard drive

Hello,



can you please tell me how to reformat a corrupted external hard drive? the drive doent show up on my computer & on the screen. My OS is Vista Home Premium

Hello David,

"plug it instead of your CD ROM drive." obviously does not apply to you but to Carloboy.

I suggest that you follow the instructions given the faq given in the previous message, there is one specifically for USB.

Dear Carloboy,

The problem might not necessarily be coming from corrupted materials. It might be that the IDE settings has not been set correctly. Please plug it instead of your CD ROM drive and if the matter does not get solved, please get through the following links to settle up with the problem.

I have the same problem. I did not understand your suggestion to "plug it instead of your CD ROM drive." Can you elaborate? I have only a USB connector for my External drive.
