Hello,when i start up my computer,after it has been running for a while it restarts and says it is cofiguring updates.it does it every time i switch it on,takes ages and is driving me up the wall...can you help me...i am a silver surfing nurd,so words of one syllable please....i have vista...jacky

You need to get into comand prompt before the configuring updates part.

easiest way to do this is if you have a vista operation system disc.

insert to disc and go to repair, but DO NOT repair.

go to advanced and select comand prompt.

type:

C:
cd WindowsWinSXS
del pending.xml


reboot and boom.

Works.
