Creating a .pdf file

Hello,

I can create a .pdf file using the software that came with my scanner, but I would like to know what software is needed to create a .pdf file that will allow me to create a Table of Contents with links that will take me to that chapter or source of info within the document.

the .pdf file taht is created with the scanner software is good and it does make the images into a transferable .pdf file.

Just would like to show off a little and get the file to do more.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Adobe Acrobat will do that. There may be freeware programs as well.
