Blank screen issues dell inspiron e1705

Hello,


i am currently having issues on the startup. Just before this issue accured, I was shutting down the computer and it had 18 window updates it was downloading. after these are completed i try to reboot the cp and the screen stays black and i can hear the laptop start and the harddrive makes a clicking sound and i receive a black screen with no error message at all. if any of you know a solution to this problem any help would be greatly appreciated
