CPU Beeps Continuously After POST

Itboy26, on Friday 11 April 2008 à 12:31:10
Hello,

I'm new to this forum and id a search, but didn't come up with anyone having a similar problem to me so hopefully this isn't a repeat. When starting my computer it does the one beep POST, then when nit goes to load Windows it starts beeping continously and hangs there and won't load. After pulling out/reseating different hardware/cables to on avail, I put in a diffrent hard drive and it boted up fine. I then tried putting the original HDD and the beeps came back. So I put the extra HDD back in as master and the original HDD as Slave and it boots fine and I can access both drives in windows explorer. Does anyone know why this woulkd happen ? Does the original HDD have a corrupt MBR or something ? Is it a virus ?

Thank you for your help,
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello

There are a couple of ways forward, Firstly, to check/repair the MBR put the original drive back and boot up with your XP install CD. Press R for RECOVERY CONSOLE, and log in using the Admin password. Enter the command FIXBOOT and answer Y to the questions. The enter the command FIXMBR and answer Yes again. When finished, remove the CD and Reboot.

If that does not resolve the issue then the next step to take would be to download a Harddrive diagnostic prog from the manufacturer. Just be careful when running the diagnostic tests as some can destroy your data. Read the Instructions carefully.

i have a similiar situation with my laptop, i have random beep occurances while installing antivirus games, abode reader ect, after those beeps generaly the comp freezes while beeping and clicking, always leads to a system crash that involves reinstalling xp sp2, this all started happening when the laptop crashed 4 the 1st time in a year after that its never been the same, never able to install games antivirus ect, im thinking my hardisk is going to die, but the Harddrive diagnostic prog from manufact hp has stated everthing is fine. wtf any ideas. I know hardrives dnt beep but i cant see how its my BIOs, even disk check and disk clean up can cause the laptop to beep n freeze and sometimes crash.

also generaly after those system crashs, i cant load up windows xp, only continues to beep while loading up xp, while making no progress, which invloves reinstalling xp
been reinstalled xp for at least the 4th time now.

I have a problem .. My HP beeps long beeps at start up and thats it. and it continues till you cant stand it anymore and power it down. I did you you said above and still nothing. Nothing is loading. (bios etc.) Both CD drives load up as if there were no problem. I unpluged the main connection to the mother board from the harddrive and it still "beeped" at me. Tryed a few things and nothing. So could this be an internal motherboard issue? Processor? or possibly the (sounds stupid) but power supply?

thats exactly what happened to me, resinstall xp, youll be able to startup xp as normal, but if you have the same prob as me you wont be able to install antivirus programs like me and anything else like games, its either your motherboard or processeor, my comp is undergoing repair from the same situation but in the mean time reinstall xp download needed driver support for sound ect, wouldnt reccomend relying on youre hp computer, could lose data anytime so get it repaired asap.
