Connect laptop to external hd wirelessly

Hello,
I would like to connect my laptop to my external hard drive wirelessly. Right now I have a network of my pc ,laptop and external hard drive. I want to be able to axcess the external hard drive from my laptop without having the pc on. I axcess the internet thru a broadband connection with..laptop wirelessly. Is there a way to connect the external hard drive with the laptop wirelessly? there is no USB conection on my router..thinking i could do it that way.

You may need to buy another external case for the hard drive to turn it into NAS - (network attached storage).

See above for example case. Attach this to your router via a patch cable - you must have one if youve got wifi on the go and your away

or buy something like this

Hi,
I have a Western Digital Model 800b015. I am not sure what you mean by getting a new case. I buy this case that has the right "connectors" and I put the WD in it? How does it connect my WD to the case.

You need a case with an ethernet apapter (RJ45 Connector on it)

Your old hard drive will be either SATA or PATA, check when you remove it from the original case.
Just simply buy an external case with the same connection

I understand what you are saying.. but the hard drive is came already enclosed in a case and I don't see any screws or any way to take it apart. Is it possible that I have something that cannot be put in a new case?

Doubt it. Most things can be taken apart. HDD usually come as 3.5" SATA or PATA excluding laptop drives and then get added to a case for external drives. Your case my have clips inside keeping it together. Otherwise get the specs of the drive and post them here.
