BT Ewire Hub & BT Home Hub

Posté par meenupa, le Thursday April 10, 2008 01:35:13 PM
Hello,

My computer uses the BT Ewire Business Hub. I have a seprate telephone line which became broadband enabled yesterday and i have a new BT Home Hub. If i unplug this computer from the existing telephone line and plug it into the new phone line which is broadband enabled, will it work straight away with the existing BT Ewire Hub ?

Also, how do i set up a separate broadband connection fo rthe new telephone line in my computer so that i can "Switch between" both the BT Ewire Hub and BT Home Hub on both separate telephone lines ?

I need to do this within 24 hours time so would apperciate your responses.

Thanks in Advance!
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello

You have 1 building with 2 seperate telephone lines. You have BT Broadband enable on each line - 1 x business (eWire) and 1 x residential (home-hub)

If so, then as the others have suggested, there is no point in paying for 2 broadband lines in the 1 building and therefore no point in being able to switch between the 2.If you need a large capacity broadband link then you need to speak to BT about another solution (leased line/ISDN etc)

If, however, you have the business broadband at your work (with the Ewire Hub) and then Residential Broadband at home(with the Home-Hub) and you have a laptop/computer that you move between the 2 buildings. You can connect with the Ethernet cable as it is set to obtain an ip address automatically and you will get online or if it is a wireless connection you can setup 2 profiles and the laptop/computer will connect to whichever wireless network is available.

Im an ex-BT broadband engineer and it beggars belief that BT would sell you BOTH business and residential telephone lines and their corresponding broadband(s) for the SAME premises.
