Not necessarily so. Partition & low-level format are two different animals. Partitions are walls that you put up and take down from the HD. Format is like a buildozer that raze everything on the HDDs including partitions. |
if you formatt the whole hard disk that will erase everything including malware for sure. but back up any important files you want to save to a zip drive or burn them to a cd.cheers |
negative, you must write to each sector and standard format won't do this. there are logical bad sector malware out there that will survive standard format. killdisk will do this, otherwise use spinrite to get all logical bad sectors fixed and then you use boot n nuke. quick searching on malware that survives standard formatting will confirm this. |
