Built in hdd password

Hello,

I have a toshiba satelite and for no reason at all its asking for a built in hdd password. Does anyone know away around this toshiba service su**s i spent close to a $ 1000 6 months ago now its useless. A month ago i had to reset bios password that was never set it came on one day and asked for it that was a learning exp for me. I have talked to numerous techs and they say thousands of people like me are having this same problem with toshiba and toshiba customer service is doing nothing about it. Toshiba needs a class action law suit against them this is bulls**t i spend a $ 1000 on there product and they refuse to correct there built in hdd problem. Any suggestion before i smash it with a bat or a toshiba dealer throw it thru a window.

Hello

I had the same problem on a Toshiba Laptop. I tried every option I could find. The only way to cure the problem is to reformat and re-install windows.

There is something in the Toshiba operating system that for some unknown reason makes up a generic password. The Laptop I worked on was only 1yr and 3 months old and the warranty had expired 3 months ago

I have a toshiba satalite laptop and it randomly asked me for an hdd password, you said that you have to reformat the computer but how do you do that if you cant get past the stupid password? any suggestion? Im going to school and I dont have money to take it in it sucks

I have been looking for weeks. I cannot find an answer for this. Every pin they suggest I do not have. The keydisk.exe doesnt work. The laptop doesn't have an LPT1 port to make the dongle. I have my friends laptop and she didn't set the password. It's actually a known issue with Toshiba. My last step is to bring it in to a Toshiba dealer they will fix it for free. I am stubburn because I think Toshiba should just give out the fix if I give them the serial number. But call Toshiba and they will just give you the information of a local toshiba dealer that will fix it.

We had the same problem. Type in admin or password. admin worked for us.
