Hello, I just had my cable company install a wireless router on my desktop so that I can get Internet Access without all the wires on my Compaq Presario Notebook.

Only, problem is now I am trying to make it where my printer is in the same network, so i can print from my laptop and stuff will actually print.

Can anyone help me?

I have emailed my cable company, friends, family, no one seems to know...

Someone please help me

thanks

Configuration: Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7.0

Does your printer have network access built in? If not you need to buy a "print server" that lets you connect a USB or parallel cable to the printer and a CAT-5 cable the the wireless router. I use a TRENDnet TE100-P1U with a USB connection. The included instructions didn't work. But, they had better instructions online.

Well if you can see the printer on the laptop your in good shape..but u need to install the printer driver on the laptop...the easiest way to do this is to temporarily connect the printer to the laptop via usb and let vista automaticly install the software

This is a link to the printer manual.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/...

The only option is to buy a "print server" that lets you connect a USB to the printer and a CAT-5 cable to your wireless router (I assume you have one). You then need to configure a new printer ID on each of your PCs using the network address of the "print server"
