Hello, I have a pc that has recently suffered a windows failure. I bought a device that can be connected to the hard drive(a sata) and connected to my lap top so i can recover data, mainly pictures . now i recovered all i could find which was a considerable amount and then put the hard drive back in the computer to re-instal windows, amazingly windows booted up and i was able to log on to my account where i found almost 4gig worth of photos in a file on the desktop. before i had a chance to copy them windows crashed again, . No matter how hard i search the hard drive of the pc via the usb drive reader i cannot find these photographs or any of the other data on the desk top. ??? I know that the data is there and the photographs are really precious family shots. Any Ideas

Hi, boarder154

You may also use some photo recovery programs to get back your pictures. See more from this post,

I suggest you use a free program called Recuva. Put your drive back in the adapter and download this program. It you run a "deep scan" it should recover any picture it can find.

Good Luck

Hi there,

Make the use of a recovery software by which after formatting you can still get your data back,to get it follow this link:
