Hello,
I have a HP dv 6000series laptop with vista. My wireless is not working (not even connecting to internet) suddenly, eventhough the signal says it has been properly connected (Excellent) to the wireless in my house. The DLink router DI-524 is working fine. My friend's laptop wireless is able to get the wireless from my house and able to browse the internet.
I called HP CustomerService and they said the issue might be in the DLINK router, they asked me to contact DLINK if there was a firmware upgrade from DLINK side which I don't think is the solution.
Right now I am using the internet by connecting ethernet cable to my laptop.
Give me your suggestions.
Thanks
Ram
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.4

I have a pavillion dv4 and i'm having aproblem, though i'm not sure if it's the same as what you're experiencing. while the hp wireless assistant is telling me that my wi-fi is on, the light is still red and window's wireless troubleshooter is telling me that my wireless capabilities are turned off. i'm going to look for a driver and float around more, and get back to this forum, but if anyone has any ideas about this, please lemme know. it's a total pain. |
:O i am having the exact same problem ! i actually moved houses recently, so i didn't get to use the laptop for like a week or so.. and then when i had everything up and running again.. i turned on my laptop (same model-dv6000) and the wireless lan light is red.. so i assumed that its off.. so i pressed it to turn it on.. and it tells me on the screen that it has turned on... but the light is still red. butttttt the ie tells me that my wireless isn't turned on........ and i can't even search for any networks cause it's apparently not on.. but on lol..

I contacted hp aswell, and it was just a little problem.. what the chick told me to do was just to uninstall the wireless drive and then reset the laptop..and when the laptop turned back on, the wireless drive installed by itself again and then the wireless light was BLUE ! it was a miracle.... lol hopefully this might help some others with the same small problem that i thought was bigger :D:D

I had this problem randomly occur for me over the weekend. I have a dv4 laptop and my touch button for wireless connection stayed red, even though my screen said that wiress was being turned on or off. My solution was a system restore to the previous restore point. Restart the computer and the blue light turned on when I pressed it. |
I tried so many other things to get the stupid wireless to work. I came to one conclusion it has to be a key in the registry that is stopping the vista from seeing the wireless card. Go to this link and follow his instructions on where to look in the registry and delete the keys that don't fit or look strange. It worked for me. I tried taking the card out, redoing the programs and installing the bios again. None of those things worked, but the link below showed me where to look in the registry to fix the problem. I hope this helps.
