Hello,
I have a HP dv 6000series laptop with vista. My wireless is not working (not even connecting to internet) suddenly, eventhough the signal says it has been properly connected (Excellent) to the wireless in my house. The DLink router DI-524 is working fine. My friend's laptop wireless is able to get the wireless from my house and able to browse the internet.
I called HP CustomerService and they said the issue might be in the DLINK router, they asked me to contact DLINK if there was a firmware upgrade from DLINK side which I don't think is the solution.
Right now I am using the internet by connecting ethernet cable to my laptop.
Give me your suggestions.
Thanks
Ram

Configuration: Windows Vista

Thanks for the link. After an hour+ with a very friendly tech support person with HP, it was determined that they need to send the laptop in for servicing. HP is sending a box to send via Fedex, and servicing for free. I would never have found it as easily, if you hadn't provided the link. Thanks very much.

I have had my laptop for over a year now and my wireless connection has been working fine ~ until this morning. Out of the blue I cannot connect wirelessly to the internet. Put my computer into sleep mode last night & suddenly this morning all my wireless access is gone ~ poof..

My router is working fine & I can connect through comcast if I cable up to the router. HP Pavilion dv6000. Searching the internet for answers as i figured HP would tell me it's a comcast / internet issue ~ passing the buck as they do so well. If you find a solution can you please let me know with a post. thanks. krey

Ram,

Did you ever find a solution for your wireless problem? I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 as well, and it does the SAME thing. It's very frustrating, and I haven't had any luck finding a fix for it.

I have a pavillion dv4 and i'm having aproblem, though i'm not sure if it's the same as what you're experiencing. while the hp wireless assistant is telling me that my wi-fi is on, the light is still red and window's wireless troubleshooter is telling me that my wireless capabilities are turned off. i'm going to look for a driver and float around more, and get back to this forum, but if anyone has any ideas about this, please lemme know. it's a total pain.

I have had the same problem and contacted HP - appears the limited warranty service agreement has expired and they want to charge $298 to repair. No way. I will use the USB adaptor and trash HP every chance I get. Worst part is, I have both a laptop and Pavilion.

Over heating of the video chip can burn out other components on the dv6000.

I contacted hp aswell, and it was just a little problem.. what the chick told me to do was just to uninstall the wireless drive and then reset the laptop..and when the laptop turned back on, the wireless drive installed by itself again and then the wireless light was BLUE ! it was a miracle.... lol hopefully this might help some others with the same small problem that i thought was bigger :D:D

peace!!

Dv6000's have problems with overheating that burns out the wireless. Your best bet is to purchase an external wireless adapter and start saving money for a replacement laptop.

Good Luck

I had this problem randomly occur for me over the weekend. I have a dv4 laptop and my touch button for wireless connection stayed red, even though my screen said that wiress was being turned on or off. My solution was a system restore to the previous restore point. Restart the computer and the blue light turned on when I pressed it.

I tried so many other things to get the stupid wireless to work. I came to one conclusion it has to be a key in the registry that is stopping the vista from seeing the wireless card. Go to this link and follow his instructions on where to look in the registry and delete the keys that don't fit or look strange. It worked for me. I tried taking the card out, redoing the programs and installing the bios again. None of those things worked, but the link below showed me where to look in the registry to fix the problem. I hope this helps.

The posted page has a search field which lets you search by your model. I had a wireless internet issue with my HP DV6000 laptop and landed on this page and found the link above. It fixed my wireless internet issue and also found other drivers for the laptop. Thanks to XPCMAN for posting it. :)
