Hello,

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo 600 PC that has recently died. It turns on, but the monitor say's 'Mode Not Supported' (I checked on a friends computer and the monitor is working fine). I'm not sure if it's a Graphics Card problem or a Windows OS (XP Home Edition) problem. I can't afford to get it repaired at the moment, either.

I need to use my Laptop to connect to the PC's Harddrives, so I can retrieve important files. I have an Ethernet cable and thought I might be ale to use it to connect to it like an external harddrive. Is this possible? I do have over cables, but don't know where to begin.

Anything you suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

You need to remove the hard drive to read it on another computer. Then you need to buy an "External 3.5 inch hard drive enclosure" this will have a USB cable you connect to the second computer and a power cord.

First try to boot your PC into "safe mode" by hitting F8 multiple times during the boot. You may have set the PC display to a mode that is outside the usable range of the monitor. If the monitor works in safe mode you can then change the display mode by right clicking on an empty area of the desktop and then clicking "properties" and "settings" then click on the "advanced" button. Select the "Monitor" tab and change the "screen refresh rate" to 60 Hertz. then click "OK" to close all the display screens and restart the PC. I hope this will solve your problem. I it does, return to this site and mark you problem as resolved.

Or you can make a live usb/cd which will automatically share your hard drive

Yea what defenitely happened is that the resolution the pc is set to is no supported by the monitor so just try to boot into safe mode by pressing f8 or try using a different monitor. Then just change the resolution to one your monitor can handle, it could also be any other graphic options not just the resolution
