I came accross this problem once at work, i work as a technical engineer and me and my collegues on our tech team spent 2 full days trying to resolve the problem, research seemed to point to a corrupt file in one of the windows folders and we were advised that the only way to solve the problem completely if it occurs is to reinstall the operating system, after reinstalling windows all was fine. The issue is apparently caused by a corrupt .dll in the ioon in system32 folder that deals with network

Hope this helps

I'm having the exact same problem. Not able to view my emails via windows live or the hotmail.com website is becoming increasingly annoying. I do not want to have to reformat my pc just because of the failings of Windows messenger.

I do not see how my files for this program could be fine one day, and corrupt the next, without me consenting to any download or actively changing any settings.

Having the same problem with Firefox. I have partly resolved the issue by using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. Here Hotmail load without any problem.

In Internet Explorer go to tools, then hit internet options.
Find the program tab and hit it. Then find E-mail roll it to Windown Live Hotmail, then Hit Apply at the bottom.
Whoooooo Hooooo it is fixed. No thanks to Bill Gates and his crew of half wits.

You now have your Hotmail back. (o;

You may have a corrupt Hotmail page stored in your Tempory Internet Files folder. Clear this out and see if it loads then.....

START - PROGRAMS - ACCESSORIES - SYSTEM TOOLS - DISC CLEAN UP.

Post back if this works/doesn't work for you.

I hang my head in shame. The problem went away for several hours with my fix now I have the same problem again. I also went into safe mode and cleared out all my temp files. I then gave firefox a try no luck!
All I get is this message in firefox "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"
I really think this is a Problem that Microsoft Hotmail is having and that the problem with our computers.
I have been finding people have this problem all over the net not just with PC's but with Mac's as well.
From what I can find most of the problems started in April of this year and it has gotten worse involving more and more people. I think it is time to put out the word to boycott Microsoft Products and Hotmail.
Time to pass the word "Boycott Microsoft Products"........

Ugh.

I'm validating the "Mac's are having the same issues" claim.

It's been like this for days - won't load, won't load. I can't check that email. Luckily, it's my "junk" email (the one I put on websites)... but Seriously. When will Microsoft get this fixed?! It's ALL OVER THE INTERNET. You'd think they could figure it out.

Yes, was not working for macs here too!

weird in my case though - it was working perfectly fine for the last seven months tapping into various wifi networks through india, turkey, london, canada, japan....

now im back home in HK, ive got myself one of them 3G network dongles....isn't the fastest gadget around but i've been able to get onto all websites apart from hotmail with firefox.....

brother used same dongle and hotmail works for him though.......very odd...

i cleared private data like cookies and cache...now its sorta working as i can log in to my account...

it is, however, taking forever to load my inbox....i've given up now....

doesnt work with mac IE either....Safari allows me to log in too but wouldnt let me access my emails...

oh wait! firefox works now!!!! very odd.....

Are we looking at a nasty unknown virus that is attacking Microsoft? Try going to the ie8 download site...download button has no reaction...MS Office Clipart, no search box, go in from the back way, and blank screen just like Hotmail. Since MS rules the net, if this is a virus, God help us all.

Well it seems I'm not alone with this problem but it's kind of weird with me because I can access every windows live service except hotmail. since I live in Germany the message that appears is in German, too but it says something like: 'there might be a problem on this site or it may not belong to the windows live-network. try to enter windows live over a different service (msn, etc.)'
but right next to that text all the benefits of hotmail are praised and you are asked whether you already have a live-account and if you would like to register.

when I try to load hotmail (I use firefox), it seems that firefox cannot get a connection to the hotmail server because at the bottom it always says: 'waiting for login.live.com' 'connected to login.live.com' and then it repeats until the message above appears.

does anyone know of a way to access hotmail differently? I also tried to go on msn.de first, that worked with no problem and then to click on the 'hotmail' button but the same thing happens.
well, if any of you know something, please helb! thx.
Sam

Same problem!

has anyone figured this out yet? I seriously need to access my emails!

It was working fine when I checked it at work today, but now that I'm home it won't work, just in the space of a couple of hours ..

Hate to say it, I finally messed with so many things to try and fix this, I killed Windows. After a full re-install, everything is working fine. However, I did get it to load more often by clearing my host file. Good luck, and I hope you have a recent drive backup.

Just dropped by looking for something and say this thread.

There is a workaround when hotmail won't load like this. It happens from time to time and I still don't know why but it doesn't stress me like it used to because if you run Outlook it accesses your email (provided you have it set up in Outlook) and you can at least read your messages.

Also, if you don't use Outlook, there's a free proggy ( I have no association with it) called POP Peeper that I use to monitor my various emails. It runs in the sys tray and notifies me when I have new email. The point is, it's not a solution...but it is. I get to see what comes to hotmail at least, and I can reply through POP Peeper too. Not a solution; just a way to let some frustrated people access their emails :)

Enjoy
