How to Cut and Paste in Mac

Hello,


I am new to MAC, and i am used to being able to "cut" qand "paste" files like in Windows XP. however in OSX it would seem that the " cut " option is disabled when i click on.


Edit while in a finder window. why is this the case ? i would rather cut and paste files ( not referring to text here) than have to copy and paste, then delete the original !

There is no cut option when doing it that way, however if you open the folders you want to cut from and to all you
have to do is highlight the items you want to move and drag them over to the folder you want them in.

or alternately you can use the command + x ie apple key + x

It's really simple if you think about it.

By the way you may want to get your hands on a pdf that
has 70+ hot key commands for OSX.

google the following: 70+ keyboard shortcuts for osx and it's the first link

you will have to make an account with tech republic-but
no big deal.

There's a lot of help available from within the MacOS itself (and not a lot of people use it). In Finder, click on Help in the top menu bar, and straight underneath it is Mac Help (also Cmd-?). It will give you Key commands (or keystrokes) that you can use to copy-paste, select-copy, etc, etc.
