Same problem here with both IE and Firefox, suspect malware is at fault.

Friend, you probably got virus on your computer. Full scan with Antivirus, Malwarebytes and Super antivirus and reset internet option.

I had a DNS.changer trojan in my APPDATA folder- run a virus scan on your APPDATA folder, also svchost.exe in your APPDATA/ROAMING folder, which should not be there to begin with SVCHOST.EXE should only be in your SYSTEM32 folder in WINDOWS.

I had a DNS.changer trojan in my Users/Administrator/APPDATA folder, and also a trojan posing as SVCHOST.EXE in my APPDATA/ROAMING folder- update your virus definitions, then do a virus scan on your APPDATA folder in USERS/ADMINISTRATOR folder. (I'm on Vista 32, but the equivalent for XP should still be in the APPDATA folder)

APPDATA folder will be hidden, but if you go to folder options in your control panel and tick 'show hidden files and folders', you should be able to see it. Then run your virus scan on the folder, and if it finds either of these virus/trojan files, it should take care of the problem.
