NFS Undercover is made for Single-Core, therefore lags/freezes on Dual-Core and Quad-Core

Dude, that's the largest piece o crap I've ever heard... All games from start of '07 were specially designed for all different CPUs... Wether you have a 3.2GHz Celeron or a Core i7, only difference it makes is speed... I ran my Undercover for 6 weeks smoothly on Medium with a 2.4GHz Celeron, 1GB Ram, 256mb Graphics(GeForce 7010 nForce 610i)...

I am running it full graphics, but find it very cpu intensive and does not utilise core 2 duo well. I found it started lagging and saw that it was over utilising one cpu at 100% and the other about 80% but the 100% never drops. so a bottleneck is obviously there.Even after dropping graphics still same lag cause of Cpu. extremely irritating. Game gets boring quickly.

Do you know what hte quantity of ram on the vga card actually does.

il tell you so you will know.XD

the more ram you got on your vga, the higher the the resolution you can go and keep smooth frames.

512 ddr3 is the minimum in now days for 1680/1050 and up.
the 1024 ddr3 hd 4850 is maybe having the same clocks as a 512 megs one however it capable of much more.

at high resolution. i would not say 2 times. but nearly 50-60 percent better.(for high resolutions)

so if you play in a resolution below 1680/1050. you don't need those kick ass 500$ vga cards.

1440/900 with 512 megs is more then what it will use. (always 60 fps) XD

Try updating yor graphic card drivers. and if you still got bugs go and fetch the latest version of direct x 9.0

(once you download and unpact direct x 9.0)(don't forget to launch setup lol.)(after that you have installed direct x 9.0 updated you can delete those heavy files that you just unpacked.

if you still have issues. well, try resinstalling the hole game.

if you still have issues. go on run program on the start menu bar. type dxdiag

on the dxdiag screen. click on the sound tab. then you will see a slider bar options for hardware sound acceleration. lower it to basic acceleration. if you put it at no acceleration you won't have sound anymore on your comp.

after that you should not have any bugs. if so. lol(unlucky)

try a different game and if you do get issues. well you card is broken. (gfx)
(note that lowering sound hardware accel might cause issues on very few games. ex : flatout 2.)

if after lowering your sound accel. you get better perf. well its time to get a new sound driver.

or new sound card. (if you use a creative audigy soundblaster or a xtreme gamer x-fi, don't get creative offical drivers, if you're using vista. either 32 and 64 bits version) go online try fetch yourself the unofficial creative soundblaster daniel drivers.)(creative tried to sue this guy for having made good drivers under vista.)smell conspiracy. XD

you can e-mail me at sbabingill@gmail.com if you have any weird bugs on your comp and need some help. hope this help (^.^)

For get it man. celron is way to weak cpu to handle heavy graphics games.

if you had a 3.5 ghz celron then you might been able to run it on medium. the reason celron arn't good for games is because of their incredibly low cache memory.

most celron have a quarter of what a pentium got. and some higher grade celron got half of it.

and the ammount of cache memory can not be modded or hacked.(as far as i know) (would be bad news for intel)

if your interessted on some offtopic thing such as undervoltage. go check hardware canuk on google. search for undervoltage on laptops topics.

i know that celron are quite power hungry, compare to those new pentium dual core who are probably the less hungry ones. (don't mix pentium d with pentium dual core.) (the D ones are old models that heat up like crazy)

before doing anything to voltage on your comp ask the pros at hardware canuks first. it's free to participate, in the forums.

Hi,
I had the same problem and i found it was caused by Data Excution Prevention (DEP)...
to turn DEP off open up a Command Prompt as adminstrator (right click and press 'Run as Administrator') then type in the following:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

This turns off DEP completely

If you decide at one stage you would like DEP back on just type:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOn

I'm sure that NFS UC was still full of bug....i'll try to fix with new patch but it wont work...EA must fix this problem...funny... when in i'm in race or chase it return to windows...again & again... & the controller if you're using joystick...i must set it again & again everytime entering the game...n for the police car was very fast than game cars...even you use the very fast car with pro upgrade....(its not logical...for me)...

hope there well be a great version for this game....Thnx...bless u all
