Toshiba satellite L40 notebook does not support winxp, because there is no inbuilt SATA III driver in winxp. U need to install win vista in this Toshiba model.

You can slipstream sata drivers into XP installation and it works fine on Toshiba Satellite L300

Man i have toshiba l40 model with xp on it,i want to format it but i have the same problem,you know ,,to quit press F3,, what shall i do????

Plz sugess me for installing WIN XP on Toshiba Satellite L-40 & HDD is not showing in Bios & after the configuring/files setup, it show there is no HDD, plug it propperly, but HDD is dected.

Hey buddy i have the same problem with my laptop. you need to slipstream the xp cd with nlite. it works

You should purchase a new laptop with xp installed and you may exchange it with your old laptop with vista
