Hey rashid i've read about ur problem you may take the hardisk and scan it on other computer that have windows xp just attach the ID or Sata cable and power cable for sure and set the computer on and let it boot from the harddisk (first harddisk) in the computer that have the windows XP and then you'll have disk scan let it finish and loads the windows then take the harddisk off and put it again in the other computer it will works without having the blue screen problem reply on this email if it works scorp88ion@hotmail.com

Go into the Bios and change the HD option from SATA to IDE or Native... this should enable you to make it to the next phase. This works for some newer laptops of various makes (ie. HP, Compaq, etc.)

Hi:

I have an HP G60-230US that came with Vista installed. I trashed that and put in my favorite Linux distro, Ubuntu 9.04. Some remnants of Vista remain in the system however, it seems. I have needed to add XP for the sake of running a testing program and the machine refuses to read the XP install disk finally saying after 5 minutes of grinding gears that there is a problem and windows is shutting the install down due to perhaps a virus, etc. I had created a 5 gB partition with gparted to put the XP in but, as I say, the install cycle does not even start. Any ideas would be of great help to me.

Thanks from Grintz

Ok, here is the hp laptop XP setup solution:
Change the SATA device settings (at bios: System Configuration-Device Configuration-SATA Device Mode) from AHCI to IDE.... and now it works :)

don't forget to change it back to ahci after installing xp..

Shamsh,

You may need to integrate the correct SATA drivers to your Windows XP installation CD using N-lite software. HP Pavilion dv4/dv5 laptop uses the same SATA drivers. These laptops does not have the option to disable the SATA configuration in the BIOS. So what you will need to do is to integrate the drivers in the windows XP. You can download N-lite at http://www.nliteos.com/download.html. Make sure to include Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller Driver in your integration. You can download the said SATA Controller drivers at http://rapidshare.com/files/170171831/ICH9M-EM_SATA_AHCI_Controller.zip. I hope you are familiar with using N-lite. If you need more assistance, give me your email address. I can send you a screenshot of integrating SATA drivers using N-lite so you can install XP in your dv4/dv5 laptop.

Hi,

I bought HP dv4 1242TX. When I tried to install XP I too faced the same SATA incompitability issue. I know how to install XP. I have XP SP2 bootable CD with me. I downloaded nlite. I dont know from where I can download SATA driver that suits my system(is it common to all DV4). So could you please help me in details, how to install if possible with the help of screenshots? I am new to these kind of things so please give me detailed instructions. And once I install XP from where can I get the driver for my Webcam, Finger print detector etc? If you can give a quick and detailed reply it will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Ernest

Your response was extremely useful, you can not imagine how it saved us buddy. We have been trying to install XP to this crappy HP dv5 1250eg model, we tried loads of drivers however they did not work- we almost went nuts! Your link saved us.

Thanks man-

Hi Gokhan
I seem to have identical laptop as you do. Mine is HP DV5 1254eg model. After managing to install XP I loaded driver for graphic card. For the rest I am still searching. Do you have by any chance a package containing the necessary drivers like webcam, wifi, network controller etc.
Cheers,

Dear Ernest,
I have wasted 3 days and nights for trying to get rid of Vista from my HP DV 5 1254 laptop and make it work with XP. Tried many ways with and without floppy drive, different releases of drivers etc...in the end the drivers which you addressed were the ones solved the problem.
Many thanks for it.

By the way:
NO MORE HP PRODUCT because of;
a system which does not have backward compatibility
a sort of forcing the users to use Vista
problems with creating recovery CDs for Vista at the beginning (before I started to UPGRADE (not downgrade as Microsoft or HP dictated)) to XP and then when I report this to HP technical support they said they can send the CDs to me for 35 Euro!!!
etc. etc.

I have the same issue with a new HP G60-230US Notebook. I am trying to use a MOL Licensed XP PRO SP2 install disk and it fails with the blue screen error (0x00000007b) error. I believe disabling the SATA function would solve the issue as it has in the past. However, I do not seem to have the option of disabling it so far. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi There,

I got the XP installed, was not as hard as i thought you use Nlite, thanks anyway, however my final problem is this....

on the DV5 Pavilion notebook, there is a fingerprint reader, however the problem is the software that comes with the notebook only works on vista (surprise, surprise), however i tracked the software down as
"digitalpersona personal".

now according to what i have worked out, the ver.3 that was supplied was only designed for vista, however since then they have updated it to ver.4 which covers all operating systems.

does anyone know where i can get ver.4 downloaded "free" ?

Thanks

I have been following many many threeads on this issue. I have purchased a HP DV3500.

This model also does not haver the ability to enable IDE support in the BIOS.

I have the correct SATA driver for the installation and during the setup process ( Press F6 etc etc) i still get the same BSOD.( link posted a few posts above and verified in the Device Manager within Vista)

I even went as far as installing XP on the HP drive by inserting it into another PC which boots successfully. As soon as the drive is replaced back in to the HP machine it gets about 4 seconds in on the XP boot screen before it BSOD again.

I pretty much have tried all avenues that the net seems to offer, now i am totally up for doing the whacky to see if there is a work round. (using M$ Virtual PC isn't really an option here due to the type of work i am doing.)

to install xp on your hp pavilion laptop..first u need to download ahci controllers drivers..
u need to copy the controller drivers in a floppy, and install using it with xp cd

its waste of time using nlite are any other siftwares.
