I am using Vista and cannot download Adobe Flash Player 10. I need to use it with Mozilla Firefox 3. I have read the download instructions at get.adobe.com. The download doesn't start automatically, so I click the provided link, as instructed. Apparently, I am supposed to be given the option to "run" or "save" and then click "run." However, I am only given the option to "save" or "cancel." I choose "save." Then, another box opens up and I click on "install_flash_player.exe" I then get a message that this is an executable file which may contain viruses. I choose "ok" and "continue." Finally, I get a message saying that Firefox must be closed before Adobe Flash Player plugin can be installed. I close Firefox and all other programs, yet this message continues to be displayed.

I have Flash Player on my IE browser, but need Firefox for work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Configuration: Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7.0

Firefox? - if so,
If you use Firefox AdBlock extension and you have upgraded to Firefox 1.5 you may notice that Flash is now disabled on your browser. This micro tutorial will show you how to enable Flash on your Firefox 1.5 browser.
1. Type Ctrl-Shift-P and click on AdBlock Options.
2. Uncheck OBJ-TABS
You are done!
Now you can feast on the (un)healthy diet of Flash on the web.

Firefx dwnlds problems, did yu say where to type "ctrl shift p" in ? I type it in Firefox, nothing registers, where to type that in? No idea. But I like the idea of sticking Flashplayer on the desktop and linking it to Firefox, seems kinda silly, but should work. Microsoft thwarts Mozilla if possible, all works smooth in IE but I down want AOL and all the baggage.

however when i attempt to play a flash vdeo . an .SWF file from a website.. i get a message in a dialogue box to close the firefox application to install the flash player plugin.. since the installation has already been done , why am i asked to install it again? firefox is always closed when i run the installation.

I am so with you. I bought a brand new computer with all the bells and whistles and can't do crap with it because I use Firefox and can't get freakin' flashplayer to work. Please let me know if you get any results because I do not want to resort back IE, but I only have so much patience.....

I Don't think its VISTA so much as I think the problem is adobe's flash player and Firefox. I'm running XP and I'm having the same trouble with firefox 3

I fixed mine after hours of frustration. What I had to do was go into my Internet Exporer and then go to where you install the Adobe Flash Player. When I got to the installation screen I clicked on "Different operating system or browser?" and selected Windows Vista/XP, then I selected Firefox. After it finished installing I opened up my Firefox and it immediately played everything with the Flash Player. Yay! Hope this helps...

OMG!!!! I've had this problem for 3 weeks. I'd keep trying, give up, and start over another day. I've spent so many hours trying to fix this problem. I hate IE and really didn't wanna go back to crashing every 15 min. Thank you SO much!!!!!!!!!

RE: jamestown1771 and ALL: I tried your (Jamestown1771) suggestion after 4-5 hours and every suggestion I could find. Yup.......it worked. The only thing I did differently was I copied and added flashplayer.xpt and NPSWF32.dll from C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Mozilla\Plugins..........if there is not a Plugin folder here, create one. FANTASTIC!! and Whewwwww......i am beat, flustered and finally happy !!

Thanks!!!

I had the same problem what you do is,
While on firefox try and download it. Continue through the downloading process until it says you need to close firefox to complete the installation. Then go control alt. delete and get the task manager open. The click on the firefox screen, close it and then hit try again on the adobe flash download screen. Then it completes and everything works hope that helped
