Hello,

I just attempted to turn on my computer and I got the following:

first message: ps/2 mouse error or no ps/2 mouse present

Press F1 to continue

2nd message: disk boot failure, insert system disk.....

I put my windows xp disk in, but got the same messages after reboot.
Rebooted and went to bios set up and the system is not detecting my harddrives or the cdroms!!!

Is my motherboard bad??

Thanks

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Well this is a bit difficult to tell you as the problem may be coming from a number of issues. it could be coming from the motherboard as well from the ide os sata cables inside your computer. getting the help of an IT technician would be the best solution instead of trying to repair it by yourself.

Maybe you set your compter to boot from cd you must set the computer to boot from HDD .You can make this from bios look in boot sequence or maybe the hdd where you have your operation system installed is slave and not master this means that you have to move the jumper from slave to master

If u don't have a floppy disk drive but it shows in bios setup then u will disable the floppy disk option and then after u will check the mouse that will not damage or mouse pin will not damage and then after u check it out ur hard disk jumper it must be fix on master side and ur cd rom jumper is fixed on slave side. then u will auto detect the hard disk drive and then u will select the first boot option cd rom and second boot option is hard disk n before u reboot ur system insert the winxp cd in ur cd rom. ok all the best...............
