| 1 ninpomania, on Nov 11, 2008 10:43:00 am GMTHi there Holly,
If you are running OE or Outlook, check that you have the security setup correctly to allow the attachment downloads
In outlook 2007 you can find these settings under
Tools > Trust Centre
Windows Mail
Tools > Options > Security
OE express and Outlook 2003 I think have it in the same location as windows mail,
There should be a tick box that when ticked will stop the download and sending of attachments that could be a virus
good luck Reply to ninpomania | 2 Grant, on Dec 16, 2008 9:10:57 pm GMTHello ninpomania,
I viewed your resolution you sent to Holly, however, I am not using Outlook. I log in directly to my hotmail/MSN email account and I am unable to open/download any attachments (i.e., PDF, Word). I was able to download/open these files before, but I can't figure out what the problem is now.
Please help! Reply to Grant | 3 chp, on Jan 29, 2009 12:27:45 am GMTI have the same problem with yahoo mail. What I did was went back to the classic yahoo mail and my open and download issues went away. As soon as I went back to Yahoo new-mail view the opening/downloading problems came back. | 4 mick, on Jan 31, 2009 8:28:23 pm GMTIm having the same problem. Im not using outlook. I sign in to msn hotmail account. When I click on the attachment, a window comes up showing that it is attempting to download - it says "Getting file information" and shows the little piece of paper flying from the globe to the file but nothing ever gets downloaded. And the space where it says "estimated time left:" is just blank.
Same thing when I sent an email to somebody with an attachment, they were not able to download it from me.
please if anybody can help.....thanks Reply to mick | 5 Lorne, on Feb 9, 2009 8:25:35 pm GMTI am having he same problem. I am a paying Hotmail customer. I have been able to down load and save docs for years with Hotmail. And not it does not work. I get the window to pop up but nothing happens???

| 10 jennsouth, on Mar 3, 2009 4:39:21 pm GMTI had the same problems with my yahoo mail--- the files are being transferred but the little papers just fly into the folder forever and ever! Did a system restore and that worked for any new mail that I received but not any saved mail- so I tried switching back to the "old" yahoo or yahoo classic and PRESTO-- everything works now.
Weird Reply to jennsouth | 31 McWatt88, on Oct 6, 2009 1:08:43 pm BSTI believe I have a solution to Yahoo email attachment download problem. Not long ago, Yahoo/AT&T did some merger changes. In that process, I noticed there was a new system for display. At the bottom of the email, there are options: slide show, download. Because the old system only required me to double click on the attachment above, that's what I continued to do. It worked. then one day it no longer worked all the time. When it didn't I had to go to the Classic Mail, a process I hated. Besides, I liked the new look. But that's what it took to download stubborn attachments.
I see many others have the same experience.
Today, I had the same prlblem. But I decided to click on the box by the pic at the bottom and choose the "download" button. It worked. I tried the old way on my next attachment, it didn't download. I clicked the boxes below, it worked.
So, my solution is to use the download system at the bottom of the email instead of clicking on the attachment directly. So far, in a very limited testing phase, it solved the problem.
Best of luck, y'all. Reply to McWatt88 |
