Screen resolution stuck

Hello,
My friends computer has got stuck on screen resolution 800 by 600, so all of her icons are huge and she cant use the computer, this happened after her virus checker (Avast) deleted some malware. I have talked her through display-settings etc but the slide bar thingy wont move at all, have also tried following the problem solver bit on display to no avail..can any one help??

Sounds like the video driver was deleted and Windows is using its default driver. Get her to re-install the drivers for her video adapter.

My screen resolution is showing large icons at 800 by 600 pixels with large icons and windows. I cannot get the default resolution. It has happened after restarting the computer for uinstalling the Kaspersky antivirus

After uninstalling Kaspersky I didn't restart the computer. Then suddenly there was a power cut off and afterwards when I opened the desktop the screen resolution was 600*800 with very large icons and windows.
