And I have my music on windows media player which the ipod doesn't work with. So can anyone tell me how i can put on songs/charge my ipod, etc with no itunes? P.S.~ I don't know much about the ipod, I just got mine. Thanks

If you have windows media player, you can put songs through it by simply clicking the "Copy to CD or Device".

Winter_Fox - Mar 20, 2009 10:34PM

Ricx94 - Apr 20, 2009 01:03PM

i have same problem i cant play may music on my ipod please help if the is any way of playing the music thank you
Emma - Dec 5, 2009 09:48AM
You should take it to the store where you got it with the receipt and say it doesn't work. They will probably check it and then probably like give you a new one or have it repaired or something.

i am trying to put songs from my window player to my iphone without itunes software ..is it possible?
ZalgoEmma - Jan 20, 2010 04:45PM
Nope Nope. They will charge you about 200 to 300$ to have the virus removed. It's stupid, I know but that's the only way to get it removed after the virus has already soaked itself into the computer
taynosmdido - Feb 12, 2010 12:46AM
i think you nneed to sync it......
The DenominatorWinter_Fox - Jan 14, 2010 12:25PM
BE WARNED: Any Viruses on PC could go onto iPod. If you have Viruses you should NOT connect iPod until Virus is removed or moved to vault

Dabigbmc - Aug 2, 2009 02:28PM
you just need to plug it into itunes and it will register to that computer and you will be ok from there out bit i have had alot of truble with that puting it on through a cd and a flash drive i have thried both and nether of them work that good the best way is to download softwaer to put stuff on itunes then put it on through itunes.

yesiknowbluebell - Jul 20, 2009 01:43AM
erm which windows media player cos i ave windows vista and media player is the 1 from march (or some time near that) and it Very NEW:)
washedupbluebell - Aug 4, 2009 10:53PM
I'm no expert but perhaps the tunes on the windows player are in the .wma format. I'm not sure, but it could be that the ipod won't recognize that format as it belongs to windows. I believe that itunes prefers their own .aac format, but they probably also use the almost universal .mp3 format. If your tunes aren't mp3 you could try some mp3s and see if that works.
lindabluebell - Aug 12, 2009 08:51AM
I have my songs on rapesidy ready to download and when i carry them to the ipod device i think they have been downloaded, and then when i try to listen they are not there
goldie1 - Jan 3, 2010 08:51PM
Hi Linda. My understanding is that iPods use a completely different file format for their digital files (.aac) which is not compatiable with other MP3 formats. For iPods, you need iTunes to purchase, download music. MP3s, many different paid and free options. Goodl luck.

imma genious.Marie - Mar 13, 2010 12:08PM
i had the same problem until i did some research and found that ipods run on itunes. i couldn't (and still cant!) download itunes to my windows vista. SOLUTION: go to a friend's house and plug it their computer with itunes on it. their computer will treat it like another one of your friend's ipods and will let you copy songs from their library onto your ipod. with a little begging, you could ask them to download songs that you want and that they don't already have. :D good luck!
Cornelis - Jan 2, 2010 10:26PM
My version does not have the option "Copy to device" - it can only burn and rip and create a playlist from c drive.
(version 10). Could you, please, help?
Thanks

gosh yall, all you need to do is have the driver for your ipod (so you can enter the hardrive and things and veiwable ) then go to my computer open your ipod go to the address type /ipod_control after the alreasy address
go in there and unhide all files go to music and drag a song you'll have to rename it to a 4 ltters word

cec232 - May 13, 2009 07:01PM
how do u unhide the songs?
Daren - Jan 11, 2010 05:00PM
BOB THE BUILDER,

out of all these people in this whole thread, i think your message was the most useful of all. i was wondering how the helllll to edit songs without using itunes cause it won't work on my computer.

thank you so much.
007 - Mar 19, 2010 11:06AM
wow, your solution is the best. It doesn't require me to download some lame software program!
A sincere, thank you for posting this solution!

The Best part is that it is so simple and clever.

ciao
Girl - Mar 24, 2010 08:09AM
thank you. this was clear, concise & to the point.
aalii - Oct 7, 2012 09:35AM
this sounds great, but i don't know what "have the driver" means,
Mudit - Oct 9, 2012 05:25AM
does not work!!!
Yogen - Oct 9, 2012 10:53PM
Have a driver I guess means the driver to open the ipod as a storage unit (like a usb memory), almost all computers do it automatically, so if you see the "installing driver" message and a window pop ups asking what you want to do with the device (probably called ipod) is simple:

Select the option "open folder to view files",
then on the folder settings (from pc, not ipod) select "view all hidden files",
then you access the music folder and do what was posted before.

Hope I helped.

I use WinAmp for my Ipod. It is the best free software I could find. It is compatible with all Mp3 players and Ipods and you can get music from anywhere you want with no problems ;)

"Funny" this ...... I tried "copy to device" in windows media player yet the music doesn't show in my Apple "I-pod nano" Then i tried it with real player, same result , then with poddox (Dont forget to put the I pod on "Disk mode" still it did not help me though).... same again. Then i tried it with "CopyTransManager" and FINALLY this time I was warned that I needed to install I tunes at least once cause it also needs some other drivers then the ones (auto) installed when first connected to PC.

Really "funny" these "alternatives" ^^^^^
O well, at least copy transmanager TOLD me what was the matter.
Guess I should consider myself lucky ^^^^
Still I am really pissed off of being PUSHED to use I tunes bah, from now on I'll make a mission to AVOID these pushers whatever it takes.

Apple .., I-Tunes Go push some other sheep around for commercial reasons, but not me,cause now
I'll N-E-V-E-R E-V-E-R get anything from there after this install ( and immediately uninstall) for as long as I live. PUUUUKE.

I DONT WANT TO INSTALL SOFTWARE AND HAVE PROCESSES RUNNING JUST TO BE ABLE TO PUT SOME MUSIC ON MY I-POD ONCE A MONTH OR SO.

(YES I know how to disable processes but still...)
