This is due to Virus and Spywares.
Follow these steps to solve it:
1. First of all download the WinsockFix Utility from the following link:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml
2. Run it and click fix.
3. restart the computer
4. go to Control Panel -> network connections -> right click the lan connection and click properties
5. In the general tab double click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list.
6. re-enter the details as necessary.
I hope this will solve your problem.
Actually i also had been facing this problem since long, and couldnt find any solutions untill recent and i had to reload the operating system every time i got this problem. But now not need to relode the operating system with the help of htis utility.
(AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS SOLUTIONS SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM) Reply to Md Vasiullah | 5 surferboy, on Feb 13, 2009 9:21:24 am GMTI have the same problem as above. Have tried to scan with ad-aware, spybot search and destroy and superanti-spyware. Have also run winsockxpfix but still cannot get onto the internet. The problem seems to be with the DNS. If I type in an I.P. address in my I.E. then it can go to the site but i cannot type in any web names.
What else can I do?? Reply to surferboy | 9 Tirachel, on Feb 19, 2009 5:27:47 pm GMTHi there,
I don't know if this will work for you, but this worked for me. I tried all the options above on my Telkom mega105wr router. I went to network connections, right clicked on Local Area Connection, clicked on status, clicked on support tab, clicked repair. I was able to connect to the internet after that.
Hope this helps!

| 12 Norm in TX, on Feb 22, 2009 2:49:11 am GMTI encountered the problem after another problem that required a Norton Ghost backup. I, of course, assumed the backup was in some way the problem. It wasn't. Your fix has me up and running. THANKS! Reply to Norm in TX |
| 13 Subhendu, on Feb 24, 2009 12:29:20 am GMTHi,
Thank you. This worked. I downloaded the utility from the URL provided through another computer. The only difference is that I had to reboot twice. After checking the LAN settings, I had to reboot and only after this was able to connect to the net. Reply to Subhendu |
| 17 SSatBERK, on Mar 6, 2009 9:25:30 pm GMTTo Md Vasiullah:
I downloaded the winsock software, but when i restarted my computer i got an error message:
Network Connections folder was unable to retrieve the list of network adapters on your machine. Please make sure that the network connection device is enabled and running.
And when I opened network connections I didn't see the LAN connection option anywhere.
Still internet-less. Advice?
Thank you! Reply to SSatBERK |

Anyway tryed almost everything, different cables, restore points, virus scans, lspfix, new users any, reinstalling the network driver and loads of other crap, untill i stumbled apon this winsocks thing which totally fixed it! Reply to Peter |

| 56 Kat, on Oct 21, 2009 3:56:38 am BSTJust had to thank you! I've been unable to connect to the internet on my PC. My laptop (which is connected via a wireless router) has been working fine, so my internet provider was planning on charging me over $100 to come out and take a look (since it was a PC issue - not an internet issue)! You saved me lots of money - and you saved my sanity! I've tried everything imaginable for days on end - to no avail. THANK YOU!!! :) Reply to Kat |
