I erased my sound on my computer!

Hello,
i messed up an erased my sound i don't know how to get it back my computer is custom made so alot of the info i need isn't there i use windows xp home edition i tried everything but can't seem to get my sound back the icon isn't showing up anymore on the task bar and my computer is asking for new device but i don't know what my audio was called or how to get it PLEASE HELP ME I REALLY NEED MY SOUND BACK I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING SO IF U THINK U CAN HELP ME PLEASE DO SO!!!

First download the Belarc utility program from this site http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Belarc will identify your motherboard and sound chip

then google the motherboard id and find the download site and download the "audio driver"

then install it - reboot and you should have sound.
