Hello,

I just bought acer AspireM1640 desktop. The problem with this computer is that it doesn't have hany sound. I searched the acer site and browse through the same sound driver compatible to the model , installed it but still it is showing absolutely no audio at all. The volume icon is showing the status 100 % and i've checked the sound several times ( to see if anything is muted or not) , but still in vain.

Plz experts advice me what to do .... where should i look for to get the sound of this computer ...
Thanks

Configuration: Windows Vista
Internet Explorer 7.0

IF it's new then I would return it. The laptop should work out of the box. Most hardware problems occur with in the first month or two of ownership.

I have had the same problem with a new acer desktop, it was caused by using a sierra wireless internet connection device through sprint then also through at&t

Sometimes its the setting that got reset when u downloaded something newi gave this a try like an hour ago and it works for me. here's my take *thanks to my genius cousin* all the best!

-Go to START icon
-on the last row of the column on the right, click on 'HELP AND SUPPORRT'
-now click 'TROUBLESHOOTING' you'll come across alot of bulletpoint, but you just need to look for the bulletpoint the says, 'HARDWARE AND DRIVERS' under the sub-head 'In This Article'
-now click on 'TROUBLESHOOT SOUND PROBLEMS'
-click 'I CAN'T HEAR SOUND FROM MY COMPUTER'
-then click 'CLICK TO OPEN DEVICE MANAGER' and then 'CONTINUE'

-when u arrive to the page, look for 'SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLERS'
-click on the one you usually used. most of the time its the first option, but different comp can vary.
-read the 'DEVICE STATUS'
-if it does not says, 'DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY' or that this appeared, 'DEVICE IS UNABLED', then change/ proceed on with enabling it.

by now ur 'DEVICE STATUS' should read, 'DEVICE IS WORKING PROPERLY'. Go test it with songs or video to check for sounds from your audio system.

hey, its not fool-proof, nor do i guarantee your sucess but at least give it a try. Hopes this will be of help to anyone with the same promblem as i had =D
