First download Belarc utility program from this site http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Belarc will identify your motherboard and sound chip

then google the sound chip id and find the download site and download the "audio driver"

then install it - reboot and you should have sound.

I had a similar problem with the multimedia controller drivers.
I did as you suggested and downloaded and ran belarc. The analysis reads that there is "none present" under the multimedia heading. Where do I go from here to get sound?

I've got another little problem I hope you can help me with.
I just installed windows XP on a computer but it has no hibernation feature in the power management options area. It's not there at all. I've installed all the updates and still no hibernation feature. Any ideas?

Thanks again,
Frank

Thanks anyway. I figured it out. It had to do with enabling the administrator password at user accounts section of control panel (in case your curious). Thanks for all your time.

Hello striker,

Press and hold down the Ctrl and Alt keys, then press the S key on the keyboard. An information dialog will be displayed.
