Hello all,

I am experiencing the same issues many others are explaining. XP Laptop will not connect unless security is disabled.

PC - Vista Wired direct
Linksys Router - WRT54G2
Laptop - XP (HP Network Adapter)
DSL
Voip
Nintendo Wii

Everything works great when unsecured.

When secured with WEP (yeah, I know anyone can hack it) or WPA, laptop will not connect. Everything else works great. Laptop adapter shows that it does not support WPA. Linksys security key requires 26 characters. I have connected this laptop to public spots without issue and to other secured networks that have a key of less than 23 characters without issue.

I have found that the area to enter the network key in the properties will not allow for the required 26 characters. When entering the key when prompted while attempting to connect, it will accept the 26 character key, but will not successfully connect.

Maybe I am way off with the idea that it has something to do with the key entry..... I am a newbie, but after three days of constant troubleshooting, it is the only unresolved factor.

Please help. Thanks

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.7

Go to wireless networks
disconnect (Button in bottom right)
Choose to re-connect and it will prompt you for a key and it allows you to enter 26 characters.
From the control panel it will only allow 23 (as you stated).

Your answer presupposes that one can connect to the wireless network in the first place.

Hello
you will need to hold down your reset button on your router for 13 seconds or so, then that will reset your network key and will allow you to input a new key, hope that works, and if all else fails, call your network adapter company.

Hi. I am experiencing a very similar problem at the hotel I am staying at in Buenos Aires. I´m also a computer newb.

I am using Vista and am the only person in my group having problems entering the password. It is 11 characters long, but when I type it in it won´t work. I´ve tried several times, through the Acer program that manages my internet connection and through the Control Panel. When I troubleshoot it, it tells me that I think only 5 or 13 characters-long or 6 or 10 characters-long passwords are allowed.

When I reenter the password (11 characters) and return to the screen only 6 characters are there.

I would appreciate any any and all help you can offer.

Thanks!
