Hi Tony,

I had the exact same problem and I spent the whole day searching for a solution. I found one that apparently works.
You need to build a new image of the XP installation disk that contains

Those can be downloaded here : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/...

Once you have downloaded the file, extract it somewhere on your PC and make note of the location.

Then you'll need to follow this procedure to add the drivers to your original XP setup disk.

http://lifehacker.com/...

You'll need a tool called nLite to do that. Don't worry about adding sp3, you can simply add the driver (that's when you'll need to point to the folder where you extracted the file above).

At the end of the process you will have a new iso file that you need to burn. I'm using the new install CD I created as I speak and it seems to work.

Hope this helps and that it'll work for you too.

Cheers

Hi
Thanks for the response, I tried as per your mail. But not succeeded, please let me know you had done for the same model?
First copy my XP CD's (with serv pack 2) dump to a local folder, down loaded the said driver in other folder.
Next through NLITE I had integrated both and saved to a new folder as ISO, I burn the ISO as bootable CD and tried installing, not able to proceed.
System is prompting to Calandra DOS mode.

Appreciate if you could help me in this regards, my mail ID is tonyissac.p@gmail.com

Thanks in advance

Regards
Tony

Tony:

when making a bootable installation with nlite you do not copy the files first to a folder on your hd. nlite will prompt you for the location on the files. The location should be the original MS XP disk in your cd/dvd drive. The program then prompts for the location for it to use to write the files and will even ask if you want it to create a folder. It will then copy the files to the folder from the xp cd. In the next step you need to select at least drivers and iso to create a bootable installation disk. follow the prompt and feed in the 32 bit or 64 bit (depending on your xp version) you can feed it in from a floppy or from a folder on your hd. it is just the file that you need. the next step is to create the iso file which when created you can use it to burn a cd/dvd that will be the bootable installation disk. and will behave just like the windows installation disk.

All People struggling with SATA RAID drivers( wanting to install XP or whatever).
HERE IS A SOLLUTION

I got a new HP Pavilion dv6920ei few days ago. I got it pre-installed with vista, i then tried to install xp it gave me a message "bla bla.. no hardive found in computer". I then downloaded the matrix storage driver from the correct HP driver page, tried slipstream, tries just installing it on a usb floppy drive. It did not work.

I then searched and searched. After alot of days and hours i stumbled upon a thread:

http://www.lazydesis.com/...

but rather use this one:

http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1449

What this lead me to is a site called http://www.driverpacks.net

It contains alot of different driver packs, i used my xpsp2 and slip streamed the two driver packs called chip sets ans mass storage (IMPORTANT: remember to tick Driver pack MassStorage text mode so that it includes mass storage / sata drivers on installation).

And it worked. I now can install xp on my new HP Pavilion that on previous threads on other sites on internet was stated as "locked".

I hope this helps anyone struggling installing XP on a pc and struggling getting the correct sata / raid drivers.

Kind Regards
CiXuS

That is the easy part! I am still searching for all the correct drivers for my HP dv4z-1000. Some were easy to find since the Vista ones were the same as the xp ones. ( they have XP,2000,and Vista sections as well as 64 or 32 bit ones) ie the modum driver though one must first install the XP MS hd audio bus drivers before one installs it. I still do not have the correct touch pad driver and its program or three of the base system ones. The machine works ok but it is not all there if all the hardware is not recognized.

I still have not been able to load my UBUNTU.

Hello!

my laptop is pavilion dv 4 1135 ei HP !

by this method finally(after 3 days) i install XP on my laptop!

using nLite (to add new drivers to your XP cd)+ XP SP1+sata drivers !

my problem was with sata drivers! u can download sata drivers from this link (befroe using this file for other model read licence during installation) :

http://rapidshare.com/files/190707170/SATA.exe.html

or

http://www.filefactory.com/file/a041992/n/SATA_exe

(don't use any program to download this file)...

after extraction of this file put all extracted file in a folder and ...

download nlite from this link:

http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

note that in windows XP u must use .NET framework to run nlite but in Vista NO!...

if u don't know how to use nline go to:

http://www.nliteos.com/guide/

and after using nLite and burning cd and installing windows XP SP1 u can use another cd and upgrade your windows to SP2 or 3!

if u can't use this method send me your address and i will send u my CD!

Helo sir
i have an accer desktop PC. i tried to format my pc but there was blue screen saying that

"A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SUT DOWN TO PREVENT

then i tried to install vista. when it comes to vista what i did was i copied SATA driver to my pen drive and luckly it was done!!!!!.

Hello Tony,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion TX2500Z which came with Vista which I, obviously, removed immediately. But when I try to load XP PRO I get the same message " A problem has been detected and Winsdows has been shut down ....). I tried to integrate sata drivers using nlite but without success (same error message). I even downloaded dban to try and wipe out the boot sector but no success.

Have you resolved the problem and, if so, how?

Tony,

You may need to integrate the correct SATA drivers to your Windows XP installation CD using N-lite software. HP Pavilion dv4/dv5 laptop uses the same SATA drivers. These laptops does not have the option to disable the SATA configuration in the BIOS. So what you will need to do is to integrate the drivers in the windows XP. You can download N-lite at http://www.nliteos.com/download.html. Make sure to include Intel ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller Driver in your integration. You can download the said SATA Controller drivers at http://rapidshare.com/files/170171831/ICH9M-EM_SATA_AHCI_ConÂtroller.zip. I hope you are familiar with using N-lite. If you need more assistance, give me your email address. I can send you a screenshot of integrating SATA drivers using N-lite so you can install XP in your dv4/dv5 laptop.

If you want, I have a ready CD here with the SATA drivers integrated as well as Windows XP Service Pack 3 streamlined.

The model of my notebook is HP Pavilion dv3550ez.
If you see the specifications of this notebook, the hard drive controller is AMD SATA.
I downloaded the AMD SATA driver from the following link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/...

Then I streamlined the driver with XP Service Pack 3 using nlite. But it did not work.
However I would like to test the installation with your streamlined XP.
My email address is gaurav@kumargaurav.org.
Is there any way, you can give me your streamlined XP installation files?

OR, if possible please streamline your XP SP3 with the AMD SATA driver and give me some location to download because it may be the case that I am making some mistake,
This will be of really great help.

Thank you very very much..

Oh my God !!!
I thought the answer would be much more simple. I have been surfing the net for a couple of days for the same matter.
I got my brand new hp pavilion dv7-1245dx and I am tired of all the "magnificent" Vista wonders, so I decided it's time for a downgrade. Tough luck, neither one of my 6 bootable XP's does work. So i found this forum with a lot of good advices but I just don't know where to start and where to go. Unfortunatelly, I've never used nLite before so, if you, more experimented people, don't mind spending a little more time with a noobie in slipstreaming, I would like to get some help step by step. Which drivers do I really need to slipstream and how do I do it, and all the operations needed in order to obtain a bootable XP on my notebook.
One more thing I have to mention: my Vista is a 64bit o/s and I would like to downgrade to a 32bit XP if possible.
Thank you and have a nice day !

OK I got it.

Slipstreamed SP3 into my original XP CD. Then did this used dban CD or DVD to wipe the hard drive clean and remove the vista recovery partition and boot sectors then start the installation with your XP SP2 CD.

I got part of the answer here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/...

XP is now installing on my Pavilion, it finally find the drive b/c the SP3 has SATA drivers in it all ready, no need to slipstream all the other drivers and stuff! 2 days later...

Keshoz, on Jan 21, 2009 10:10:07 am GMT

You can downgrade by just placing the bootable XP SP2 Cd in your CD rom drive. Restart your Vista machie and select boot from CD. It will take you through as though you are installing a fresh copy of XP.

That should do the job..........

Can you include me in the list of the "VISTA VICTIMS"? and send me the cd for changing my o/s to xp?

I am not very knowledgeable in computer technical stuff, is it possible to include how I do it?

Hello!!

my laptop is pavilion dv 4 1135 ei HP !

by this method finally(after 3 days) i install XP on my laptop!

using nLite (to add new drivers to your XP cd)+ XP SP1+sata drivers !

my problem was with sata drivers! u can download sata drivers from this link (befroe using this file for other model read licence during installation) :

http://rapidshare.com/files/190707170/SATA.exe.html

or

http://www.filefactory.com/file/a041992/n/SATA_exe

(don't use any program to download this file)...

after extraction of this file put all extracted file in a folder and ...

download nlite from this link:

http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

note that in windows XP u must use .NET framework to run nlite but in Vista NO!...

if u don't know how to use nline go to:

http://www.nliteos.com/guide/

and after using nLite and burning cd and installing windows XP SP1 u can use another cd and upgrade your windows to SP2 or 3!

if u can't use this method send me your address and i will send u my CD!

Hallo,
I have a similar question: I tried to downgrade from Vista to XP. I made an installition CD with the correct driver for SATA controller (ICH9M-EM_SATA_AHCI_Controller) and tried to install XP on another partition. The HD was recognized correctly and the installation began. After coping files and when you have to reboot the laptop the PC didn't restart. A message like "System Error" on black screen was outputted and after that I can't no longer boot the PC. If I shutdown and restart the laptop is shown the HP symbol and the boot stop there. I can't enter the BIOS. If I remove the HD everything seems to work but I can't install the O.S. without an HD!

Do you have any idea how to format my HD?
Thank you in advance.

I finally got XP installed and working on my friend's HP Pavilion DV4-1222nr. I used a SP3 XP Pro CD and simply integrated the AMD SATA Driver into the install using nLite, creating a bootable ISO at the end that I burned to CD using a program called CDBurnerXP.

To get the SATA Driver, you have to extract the exe that you download from HP's website and use the INF located in there, selecting the correct version for your operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).

This allowed me to install XP without any crashes and get a few things up and running out of the box (USB). I used a USB Wifi Adapter to get on the internet and go to the Windows Update website where I downloaded drivers for the laptop. After downloading these drivers, pretty much everything started to work, although there's still a few "Unknowns" in the device manager.

If you need more info, I've got a guide on my blog with pictures of the process. The hyperlink button above is in spanish or something so here's the link below:

I SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

The quest was that with the HD connected nothing works: listen, I could not install drivers or use a USB neither enter in BIOS, no DVD or CD worked, because an error on the SATA controller. Everything was locked! I had to REMOVED completly the HD, so I can boot with a Ubuntu Live CD and only after that (choosing "Try Ubuntu without change hardware etc.etc.) I connected the HD with the PC on. It could be very dangerous but it worked fine! Ubuntu recognized my hd and all the partition and than I completly formatted the HD and installed Ubuntu. After that I restart the laptop and install Win XP.

Much of the (old) Vista driver on hp website works fine with Xp. If you can't install it. If you have messages like "This driver are for Vista and not compatible with XP" blablabla, don't auto-installer, unpack it manually(winrar, winzip etc.) and install.

Thank you,

p4ll.

Hello, first you need to download this driver:

http://rapidshare.com/files/190707170/SATA.exe.html

Then use this software. The name: Nlite.

You can integrate the drivers downloaded to a windows xp boot cd.

If you need more please contact me.

See you

Hi Everyone,

I was having the same problem and figured out a solution that's considerable simpler.

If you go into the BIOS and can choose between the AHCI and IDE for the sata controller, choose IDE.

That should fix the problem coz it's hard to find drivers for AHCI that work with Xp.

Hope that helps.

Abhishek

You cannot disable the AHCI on the dv4-2175mx.

You need the AMD SATA drivers for XP install

Thanks for the info!

I was struggling with a new desktop for the entire afternoon, trying to reinstall Win XP Pro, and choosing "IDE Compatible) in the BIOS settings allowed XP to stop prompting for a manufacturer's driver.
